Jose Luis Morales stunned the capital club - who came iinto the matchday as Liga leaders - with a spectacular volley that thundered past Thibaut Courtois at his near post.
At the bottom of the table, Celta earned a huge three points as Iago Aspas struck the only goal of the game in his side’s victory over fellow strugglers Leganes.
Elsewhere, Adnan Januzaj struck the pick of the bench in Real Sociedad’s 3-0 destruction of Real Valladolid.
