WHAT HAPPENED? As the British Grand Prix got underway, Silverstone welcomed a whole host of high-profile figures from other sports and celebrities. Varane, Chelsea's Thiago Silva, and Roma star Paulo Dybala were among those in attendance on Sunday afternoon. French centre-back Varane posted to his Instagram story as he posed next to defending F1 champion Max Verstappen's number one Red Bull car on the grid.

WHAT THEY SAID: Varane captioned his Instagram stories post "ready for lights out !! @redbullracing @f1" and wrote a separate entry after being granted access to the Red Bull pit. "What a sport !! 🤯 Amazing to see all the teamwork and excitement up close !!'" said the United star.
THE GOSSIP: The 30-year-old has only just joined pre-season training with Manchester United at Carrington alongside his defensive partner Lisandro Martinez, as both the centre-backs missed the end of last season due to injuries.
