"[Modric's goal] That's what you're up against at this level - it was a tough lesson. "It's always nice to to score and get my first goal for my country - but ultimately we're disappointed with the result. "It was a tough learning experience tonight against some really top players but it just gives you the hunger to come back again."

Raheem Sterling&nbsp;to ITV Sport:&nbsp;"I think there are positives from the game. We kept the ball better today. It gave us more attacking options. We got in the gaps really well, played some good football and got the goal we needed. "I had the chance in the first half and the keeper came out quickly so I had to lift it. I have to put that away but I got my goal in the end. "Jack and Bukayo got in the pockets really well, turned and were positive. It is brilliant to have these players around you who can create goals. Different players are needed for different games and those two that came in were massive and did what they needed to do. "If you don't concede goals you win football matches. You just need to score at the other end. People were disappointed in the Scotland game a few days ago but we didn't concede. The most important thing was to win the group. It is tournament football and it will be difficult but we need to do what we are doing. "At some point you have to face the best teams. It is about challenging yourselves."

Now that England's status as Group D winners has been confirmed, the identity of their next opponents is starting to look a bit clearer. As winners, thy will face the the runners-up of Group F - that could be France, Germany, Portugal or Hungary.&nbsp; Croatia, then will face the&nbsp;runners-up from Group E - one of Sweden, Slovakia, Spain or Poland.

Who will England play in the last 16?

And it's all over in Group D. England scrape by with a 1-0 win (they do like their 1-0 wins) and finish as Group D winners, with Croatia qualifying for the knockouts as runners-up. Czech Republic have qualified as the third-placed team, while Scotland crash out of the tournamnent.

With Croatia's three goals against Scotland, they could finish as Group D runners-up ahead of Czech Republic, who would then qualify as the third-placed team. England would win the Group, with Scotland eliminated.

And there it is. Ivan Perisic wraps up Croatia's third goal of the night against Scotland, who now definitely look to be definitively out of the tournament. It was a great headed goal by Perisic, though, with an assist by none other by Luka Modric.

At 35 years and 286 days, Luka Modric is now the oldest player to score for Croatia at the Euros. He already holds the record for Croatia’s youngest scorer at the tournament (22 years 73 days versus Austria in 2008). Where's the fountain of youth, eh, Luka????

Play's been stopped briefly in the Croatia vs Scotland game as players from both teams have started pushing and shouting at each other. Ruh-roh.

Scotland are eliminated from the competition if they fail to turn the game around Croatia and beat them. If the result stands like this, Croatia could qualify as a third-placed team while Czech Republic (who have already qualified) finish in second.

GOAL!!! It's Luka Modric with the goal for Croatia to put them in the lead against Scotland, and look how they're celebrating. Oh no – Scotland have their work cut out for them if they still want any hope of making it to the next round. A miracle needs to happen here...

Jordan Henderson has been active in his opening minutes at Euro 2020, making a few good crosses and generally driving the team forward.

We're heading into the break now, with England set to finish as Group D winners if the score stays like this. Scotland do need to win against Croatia if they want to have any hope of qualifying for the knockouts as a third-placed team, but they've already got half the job done.

The England captain takes another chance on goal but it's parried by the goalkeeper. It's a better performance from Harry Kane this time around, with more opportunities on the ball and actually making England look like a threat at times.

AND THERE IT IS! Scotland level the score through Callum McGregor, and the fans are going absolutely wild. McGregor was going absolutely wild! What a moment!

Tomas Soucek really should have scored there! It was a powerful shot from about 15 yards out and is wide by just a few inches. That was Czech Republic's best chance of an equaliser.

It's another blow for the Tartan Army as Grant Hanley is injured, having to be taken off and replaced by Scott McKenna.

What a clearance from Harry Maguire! Czech Republic were looking dangerous, gathered in the England box in numbers, and Maguire had to block a goal-bound shot that surely would've levelled the scoreline. The Man Utd man has impressed so far today.

Tomas Holes fires a shot from a long way away, but Jordan Pickford makes a great save! Could've been 1-1. It's the first time Czech Republic have really threatened to score.

It was Harry Kane's best chance to score all tournament, but the Czech goalkeeper makes a great save! The Spurs marksman does everything right - the power, the touch, the accuracy - but Vaclik was too fast.

Luka Modric has a chance to score from distance, but it goes&nbsp;just&nbsp;over the crossbar – and David Marshall probably would've gotten a fingertip to it.

Scotland need to overturn this 1-0 deficit against Croatia if they want to have any hope of qualifying for the knockouts based on the third-place group rankings. If the score stands, Croatia will qualify instead of the Scots.

Harry Kane hasn't been at his match-best at all this tournament, and after he looked to be struggling during the 0-0 against Scotland, there were suggestions that he should be benched for this evening. But the captain is here and starting the line – will he turn out today?

Harry Kane is down, clutching his face after a brutal tackle from Tomas Kalas. Shaw takse the free-kick, and it goes over the Czech goalf or a goal-kick.

England nearly get their break quickly, it's a great ball from Luke Shaw for Raheem Sterling who floats it across the goal, only for it to hit the post. It's the third time the Three Lions have hit the post this tournament!

The entire team take the knee before the whistle as a show of solidarity in anti-racism, and didn't sound like there were too many boos. Although this game is being watched by this here blogger through a stream.

Gareth Southgate on ITV: "They [Mount and Chilwell] are hugely disappointed to miss the games. We have had to get on with it. It is a bizarre situation. They spent 120 seconds too long [with Billy Gilmour] in a fairly open space. It is full of contradictions for me but we have got to get on with it. Frankly, I don't understand it at all. "There are teams travelling by plane, bus or coach for hours and our two boys have been caught. I don't get it. I have no issue with Steve or Scotland. I don't want them to have more issues than we have had. It is just a bizarre situation.

I know they'll be there for us."

"We've watched a lot of Croatia recently and even though they've had criticism they're still a top side. "We need the same belief and determination as the other night at Wembley. We played with bravery, commitment and quality - if we do that again we give ourselves every chance."

Scotland can secure second place if they beat Croatia and England lose against the Czech Republic. However, it would require a sizeable swing in goal difference, since&nbsp;England are currently three goals better off. If Scotland fail to beat Croatia (who also have just one point so far)&nbsp;they will be eliminated. Should England and the Czech Republic draw and move up to five points, then Scotland can't finish in the top two automatic qualification places. The most likely way for Scotland&nbsp;to qualify would be as one of the four best third-placed teams in the six groups. Four points would be enough.

While England and Czech Republic have already qualified, there's the question of who will win the group – as their finish will determine who&nbsp;will face in the&nbsp;last 16. If England finish top of Group D they will play the runners-up of Group F - that could be France, Germany, Portugal or Hungary.
