After contrasting starts to their Premier League seasons, Tottenham host Chelsea on Sunday in the first heavyweight clash of the English top-flight campaign.
Wembley Stadium hosts its first Premier League match, and it is fitting that the top two teams from 2016-17 are gracing it with their presence.
Harry Kane 7/2 first goalscorer
Despite there being a host of star names missing for one reason or another, some of the biggest stars in world football will still be on show.
But which of those would get into a combined XI were the London rivals to join forces? Goal uses recent form and overall career performances to pick the best side of those who could line up this weekend...
Getty ImagesHUGO LLORIS (Tottenham): In a very close batle with opposite number Thibaut Courtois for the goalkeeping spot, the Spurs goalkeeper comes out narrowly on top after keeping a clean sheet at Newcastle during the opening weekend. Courtois, meanwhile, was beaten three times by Burnley, with many questioning whether he could have done better with Sam Vokes' opener.
CESAR AZPILICUETA (Chelsea): Despite Kyle Walker-Peters' impressive debut, it would be remiss to leave out the ever-dependable Azpilicueta. Comfortable in a variety of positions across the backline, the Spain international has become one of the most consistent performers in the English top-flight.
DAVID LUIZ (CHELSEA): Not at his best defensively against Burnley but did pop up with a well-taken consolation goal late on at Stamford Bridge. Proved his doubters wrong with a string of impressive displays as the Blues won the Premier League title in 2016-17.
TOBY ALDERWEIRELD (Tottenham): Arguably one of the top three centre-backs in world football, the Belgium international continues to lead the way for the Spurs defence with superb performances. Just beats out team-mate and defensive partner Jan Vertonghen.
BEN DAVIES (Tottenham): Has filled in admirably for Danny Rose in the six months the England full-back has spent on the sidelines, and though he does not posess the same natural attacking instincts as his team-mate or Chelsea's Marcos Alonso, he did pop up with a crucial goal against Newcastle on the opening day.
Getty ImagesN'GOLO KANTE (Chelsea): Almost unanimously voted Player of the Year last season, the French midfielder is aiming for his third straight Premier League winner's medal as well as preparing to embark on his first ever Champions League campaign.
MOUSA DEMBELE (Tottenham): With Cesc Fabregas suspended and Tiemoue Bakayoko injured, this is a pretty clear run for one of Tottenham's midfielders to partner Kante, but even so Dembele would likely have earned this spot in any case. The former Fulham man is renowned as being one of the most difficult players to disposses in the English game and has played a key role in Mauricio Pochettino's side's ascendance to title challengers.
WILLIAN (Chelsea): No matter how bad it gets at Chelsea, you can always rely on Willian to put in consistently high performances. The Brazil international was again the standout despite defeat to Burnley on Saturday and will be hoping to nail down a regular spot in Antonio Conte's side this term after being in and out of the starting XI last term.
DELE ALLI (Tottenham): Twice the PFA Young Player of the Year, the England international midfielder continues to stake his claim as one of the best No.10s in English football, if not the world. His opening goal against Newcastle to get Totenham's season rolling was typical of his insistence to get himself into attacking positions and lend support to Harry Kane.
CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN (Tottenham): Somewhat under the radar, the Dane has become one of the finest footballers currently plying their trade in the Premier League. Linked by some with a potential future at Barcelona, Eriksen is perhaps the most vital cog in the Tottenham machine.
HARRY KANE (Tottenham): Though Alvaro Morata impressed in his second-half cameo against Burnley, the Spaniard still has some way to go to emulate the achievements of Kane. Twice the winner of the Golden Boot and one short of 100 goals for Spurs, the only blot on his copybook is that he is yet to net in the month of August, and as such could be firing blanks at Wembley on Sunday.
