'We have a future together' - Jurgen Klopp vows Liverpool will 'strike back' and launch top-four assault

  • Reds enduring difficult season
  • Nine points off top four
  • Klopp confident of late surge

WHAT HAPPENED? Liverpool are languishing down in seventh place in the Premier League table ahead of their next top flight fixture against Wolves. The Reds can close the gap to fourth-placed Tottenham to six points with a win, and Klopp is confident his team can finish what has been a difficult campaign with a flourish and look forward to a bright future together.

WHAT THEY SAID: "I really think we are ready. If there is a club that can do it I really think it is us. Honestly. Because all the things we achieved these last years we achieved together, neither without the team nor without the crowd. Nothing," he told reporters. "We have a future together: the immediate future from tomorrow but there is a bigger picture as well. We will strike back in general but now we have to make sure that we squeeze everything out of this season that we can get."

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Klopp has been boosted ahead of Wednesday's match as Darwin Nunez and Ibrahima Konata have returned to training. The Reds were beaten 3-0 by Wolves in the Premier League at Molineux in February but did knock Julen Lopetegui's side out of the FA Cup in the third round.

DID YOU KNOW? Liverpool have failed to score in four of their last six league games, having failed to find the net in just three of their previous 65. Indeed, they've failed to score in four league games so far in 2023, twice as many as in the whole of 2022.

WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL? The Reds hosts Wolves on Wednesday in the Premier League and then welcome in-form Manchester United to Anfield on Sunday.
