The greatest sporting event on the planet provided endless magical moments and left us thirsty for more, desperate for the club season to return - but there is one piece of business still outstanding.
Before the tournament kicked off, fans were asked to vote for the line-up they thought would perform best against an XI selected by Goal.
And now it's time to review which performed better in Russia...

David de Gea, Sergio Ramos, Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah and Neymar were included in both line-ups, meaning their places in the team were secure regardless of how they fared on football's biggest stage.
The full-back spots were both up for grabs, though, with England's Kyle Walker [Goal XI] and Brazil's Marcelo [Fan XI] edging out Germany's Joshua Kimmich and Spain's Jordi Alba.
Walker and Marcelo are joined in defence by Uruguay colossus Diego Godin [Fan XI], whose indomitable defensive displays saw him inch ahead of Brazil's Thiago Silva.
The Selecao's anchorman Casemiro [Fan XI] got the better of Spain's lynchpin Sergio Busquets as La Roja suffered a shock exit to hosts Russia, while Golden Ball Winner Luka Modric [Goal XI] ousted his Real Madrid team-mate Toni Kroos as he helped drag Croatia to their first ever World Cup final.
In attack, Cristiano Ronaldo [Goal XI] got the better of long-term foe Lionel Messi. The Portugal talisman hit four goals in four matches but still exited the competition at the same time as Messi, whose efforts counted for little as Argentina bowed out to eventual winners France in the last 16.
