Obviously it’s very important to have your best available team set for the weekend, but fortunately, in our format, things are a little more forgiving.
One of the most humbling things about Fantasy is that sometimes the right call doesn’t pan out. All the stats in the world could point to a certain outcome but if football was only about statistics it wouldn’t be the game that we all love. So, hypothetically, if someone from your team disappoints on Saturday, keep an eye on the players below as options you can bring in to save your fantasy week.

Phil Jones
Position: Defender
Price: £5.2m
Ownership: 0.64% of teams
Club: Manchester United
Opponent: Middlesbrough
Admittedly you could swap Jones out here with just about any Manchester United defender, and you may have to depending on how crazy Jose Mourinho feels on Sunday. Fortunately, in our format, you can change your team right up until kick-off so you can make an informed decision after line-ups have been announced.
Weird team selection to the side, Jones represents the best value at the back for United as he is currently the cheapest, least owned, but second highest scoring centre-back at the club. As for match-up, this is about as good as it gets as they travel to Riverside to face Middlesbrough who have the worst overall attack and worst home attack in the league.
Son Heung-Min
Position: Midfielder
Price: £6.8m
Ownership: 3.69%
Club: Tottenham
Opponent: Southampton
Harry Kane’s high ankle sprain has thrown a wrench in many people’s fantasy plans, but fret not. Son was the preferred replacement for Kane the last time he went down with an injury, and the Korean scored twice in his first match up front this season.
The fact that he is listed as a midfielder playing as a striker as you get a free point for any and every goal he scores. Son is currently top 10 in goals scored by midfielders despite playing 300+ minutes fewer than everyone with more than his seven goals. Spurs' opponents, Southampton, have looked shaky since the departure of Jose Fonte and the injury to Virgil van Dijk having conceded eight goals over the last five matches.
Sadio Mane
Position: Midfielder
Price: £8.2m
Ownership: 31.42% of teams
Club: Liverpool
Opponent: Manchester City
Many people are shifting Mane out of their teams after a disappointing performance in last week’s shortened game week. This seems like poor timing though as the pacey winger will be matched up against Manchester City’s aging wing backs, who were just torn asunder by Monaco’s, guess what? Pace. Now they have a short turnaround before having to deal with Mane and Liverpool on Sunday. Oh, and Mane has scored half of his goals this season against top eight teams so there’s no need to worry about him shrivelling up in the spotlight.
