In the only Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup game on Wednesday, Yadanarbon got themselves a point to go top of Group H.
Than Quang Ninh (VIE) 1-1 Yadanarbon (MYA) [Minh Tuan 45+1’ - Paing 22’]
Vietnamese side Than Quang Ninh, making their debut appearance in the AFC Cup group stages, battled fortunes and had to settle for a share of the spoils against Myanmar’s Yadanarbon who were on a high after beating Home United in the opening match of the three-team group.
At the My Dinh stadium in Hanoi, it was the home team who started well and applied pressure in the early stages. After withstanding all that, Yadanarbon surged into the lead in the 22nd minute after good work from Thein Than Wing down the left wing. The left-back made an incisive run into the box and teed up Yan Paing with a cutback and the latter made no mistake from close range.

But, their joy did not last till half-time. In first half injury time, Than Quang Ninh’s Congolese striker Patiyo Tambwe was brought down by William Nwakwe inside the box and a penalty was awarded for the home team. Minh Tuan coolly converted to pull the hosts level.
In the second half, it was all Than Quang Minh who really should have taken the lead with Tambwe hitting the woodwork twice. But it was not to be as Yadanarbon claimed a point to go top of the group with four points from two games.
