Drunken Wrexham players rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in nightclub LIFT during wild £500,000 promotion celebration blowout in Las Vegas

<p>The Welsh outfit's celebrations were put on hold after a nightclub lift broke down with members of the squad inside. A source told <a href="https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/34884210/wrexham-vegas-promotion-party-football-ryan-reynolds/" target="_blank"><em>The Sun</em></a> that the players had been "messing around" in the elevator, jumping up and down. Next thing they knew, they were having to wait for firefighters to get them out.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>This is the third consecutive year that Wrexham have gone to Vegas for their end-of-season celebrations, after <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/wrexham-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-red-dragons-league-one-promotion-hollywood-owners-one-step-premier-league/blt9ad5a36a4ee7a9ef" target="_blank">an unprecedented three successive promotions under manager Phil Parkinson</a> - the first time this has been done in the top-five tiers of English football. Their Hollywood backing by owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney has been well documented and the club will be hoping for yet more success in the Championship next season.</p>

<p>The source said: "(The players) had been drinking all day and were a bit over-excited when they got in the lift to go up to the entrance of the club on the fourth floor. They started messing around by jumping up and down.</p><p>“Next thing they knew, the lift came to an abrupt stop and would no longer move. They ended up having a sobering hour-long wait for firefighters to help get them out.”</p>
