<p>The Red Dragons, who are eyeing a third consecutive promotion, fell to third position in the League One table after <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/wrexham-concede-stoppage-time-equaliser-draw-charlton-sub-seb-revan-concedes-penalty/blta693b3831cce98ab#cs0374b329af2f0063" target="_blank">Charlton Athletic held them to a 2-2 draw on Saturday</a>. The Welsh club were on the cusp of victory and enjoyed a one-goal lead until the 95th minute when Max Cleworth was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the box. Matthew Godden scored the resulting penalty, in what was a sucker punch for the visitors.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Manager Parkinson was left fuming after the game as he felt that the club were robbed of a victory and directly put the blame on the referee. He did, however, praise his players for their efforts on the pitch while claiming that his side were the more dominant of the two teams.</p>

<p>Speaking to Wrexham's <a href="https://www.wrexhamafc.co.uk/news/2024/october/25/pre-match-listening---catch-up-on-the-road-to-charlton/" target="_blank"><em>official website</em></a>, the 56-year-old said: "The ball comes in the box and the lad wins the header. It drops down and hits Max Cleworth on his arm, which is low and by his side – it’s never a penalty in a million years. We’re relying on the referee to get the one big decision in the game right, and he got it wrong. It’s very frustrating. The ref has cost us two points today in my opinion. The quality of the performance was very, very high for us today – I thought we were outstanding. We controlled the game for long periods and the quality on the ball was really good.</p><p>"Some of the football was very good. I feel for the lads in there because coming to a place in front of 24,000 people and handling the occasion so well, we just played with confidence and calmness. It was a performance which warranted three points. You can see the way the Charlton fans and players celebrated at the end shows what a good team we are. They have celebrated the point as if they have won convincingly.”</p>

WHAT PHIL PARKINSON SAID

<p>After playing out back-to-back draws against Huddersfield and Charlton, the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned team will aim to get back to winning ways on November 3 as they take on Harrogate Town in an FA Cup first-round clash.</p>
