Positive <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/wrexham-rob-mcelhenney-kaitlin-olson-reacts-history-making-championship-red-dragons/blt339a0e3cacb0cd93" target="_blank">progress has been made while heading down that path</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Three successive promotions have lifted the Red Dragons <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/wrexham-premier-league-really-hit-mainstream-america-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-35m-headroom-promotion-dream/blteae264cf1dc80f6b" target="_blank">out of the National League and into the Championship</a>. They have cleared every hurdle put in front of them so far, but the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/wrexham-las-vegas-part-iii-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-promotion-party-phil-parkinson-phone-off/bltc0a6b763150190b7" target="_blank">next challenge promises to be their biggest yet</a>.</p>

<p>Ex-England international Foster, who <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/ryan-reynolds-generous-ben-foster-gesture-helped-wrexham-unearth-transfer-gem-back-to-back-promotions/blt0a054e3096e54254" target="_blank">helped Wrexham to the National League title in 2023</a>, has told his <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijcDjr4HQQo " target="_blank"><em>Fozcast</em></a> of what happens next in North Wales: “I genuinely think within five years, Wrexham will be in the Premier League. Next season is so, so hard for Wrexham. Championship next season is so hard. 
</p><p>“They just need to consolidate for a year, maybe two, maybe three, but then I think they are going to be looking at, from this point onwards - a five-year period - we need to be challenging in five years’ time.”</p>

WHAT BEN FOSTER SAID

<p>Ben Tozer, another promotion-winning hero from Wrexham’s recent past, added on what Phil Parkinson and his board <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/paul-mullin-players-could-go-admission-wrexham-phil-parkinson-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-transfer-funds/blt4e6940bf338afa01" target="_blank">need to do in order to remain competitive</a>: “They have to sign quality players. There will be ones that sadly have to go, because that is part and parcel of football. 
</p><p>“The gaffer will sign experienced players as well. You will need a couple of knowhows again. They have already got a few of them in the squad, which is lucky. It’s tough because they need to have a bit of an overhaul, but not crazy.”</p>
