Chelsea had reportedly offered the Epsom-born midfielder an extension of two years with an option for an additional year.

WHAT HAPPENED?

As per <a href="https://x.com/JacobsBen/status/1819353713925836804" target="_blank">Ben Jacobs</a>, Gallagher rejected the extension offer from Chelsea as the Blues have informed him that he will not have a significant role in Enzo Maresca's side as the Italian prefers a more possession-dominated midfield. As such, Gallagher believes that this will affect his chances to make England's squad for the 2026 World Cup in the United States.

THE EXPLANATION

Tottenham Hotspur had been the most heavily linked with Gallagher for a move this summer.
