The Real Madrid star recently spoke out suggesting the 2030 World Cup - set to be co-hosted by Spain - <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/real-madrid-star-vinicius-junior-insists-spain-should-be-stripped-2030-world-cup-hosting-if-no-progress-racism/bltd8f566a198a1e10a" target="_blank">should be moved if the country cannot eradicate racist abuse</a> from the game, as players should be made to feel safe on the pitch. Former Spain international Canizares has responded with an ignorant rant against the Brazil winger, claiming he is "not popular" in the country because of his lack of "maturity" rather than his race.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Speaking on Cadena Cope's 'El Partidazo' show, the ex-goalkeeper said: "If Vinicius is not very popular in Spain it is not because of his race. He already made a mistake saying that the whole of Mestalla was racist and now he is doing it again. It is a question of maturity, I prefer to listen to [Dani] Carvajal or [Luis] De la Fuente. It is not because of his race, I promise."

WHAT CANIZARES SAID
