However, his father has insisted that other clubs have been interested in the former Belgium international.

WHAT HAPPENED?

He told La Derniere Heure: "It was a surprise to the whole world. Well, not for me. If you look at which teams have already come knocking: last year you had Tottenham and Chelsea, now Brighton showed interest, and Chelsea again. WHAT PIERRE KOMPANY SAID

Bayern made it to the semi-finals last season before being knocked out by eventual winners Real Madrid. Kompany is yet to manage a club in the Champions League.
