<p>It had originally been assumed that Gyokeres would favour a move to Arsenal of the two English clubs, with Champions League football on offer at the Emirates. However <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/arsenal-bound-benjamin-sesko-drops-big-hint-potential-transfer-suggestive-social-media-activity/bltf26285131697b744" target="_blank">the Gunners' continued pursuit of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig</a> has forced a change of mind - and Manchester United may now be front-runners, report <a href="https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-utd-transfers-viktor-gyokeres-35457110" target="_blank">The Mirror</a>. </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The report states Gyokeres is desperate to test himself in one of Europe's biggest leagues and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/viktor-gyokeres-furious-striker-rages-sporting-decision-man-utd-arsenal-chelsea-blockbuster-summer-transfer/blt82b73f7ae1d05f39" target="_blank">is angry at Sporting</a>, who he feels have gone back on their word to sell him for £59 million. The fall-out could see the striker not return for pre-season.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Gyokeres would be open to a move elsewhere in Europe, but has not had the offers he expected. Real Madrid will not pay the fee necessary for a back-up striker, while Bayern Munich are happy with Harry Kane. PSG, meanwhile, tend to set up without a recognised centre-forward. </p>
