Viktor Gyokeres gives former boss Ruben Amorim final decision on Man Utd transfer as race to sign Sporting goal machine hots up

<p>When Amorim arrived at Manchester United in September, a lot of expectations were put on the Portuguese coach's shoulders. It was expected that Amorim's appointment would help the Red Devils return to form and also potentially help them sign some of Sporting CP's in-demand players like Gyokeres, Ousmane Diomande and Geovany Quenda. </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>United's performances have been bad, to say the least, under Amorim as they finished 15th in the Premier League and went trophyless despite reaching the Europa League final. Off the field, the expectations placed on Amorim being able to entice the likes of Gyokeres into joining the Red Devils have also flopped, and <a href="https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/viktor-gyokeres-arsenal-man-utd-35288577" target="_blank">The Mirror</a> has reported that the Swedish striker has no plans to join the 20-time Premier League champions. </p>
