It's a joke, right?"</p><p>"No. Not at all," he responded.</p>

WHAT GUARDIOLA SAID

<p>City are currently on a pre-season tour of the United States, most recently <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/video-jack-grealish-man-city-winger-brilliant-goal-barcelona-mateo-kovacic-run-2024-25-resurgence-pep-guardiola/bltdfa5d80505132df2" target="_blank">playing out a 2-2 draw with Barcelona</a> and then losing 4-1 in the subsequent penalty shootout. They will face Chelsea in Columbus, Ohio in the last leg of the tour.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>After the pre-season tour in the USA, City will play their first competitive match of the season on August 10 when they meet Manchester United in the Community Shield. A week later they will meet Chelsea again in their first Premier League game of the 2024-25 campaign.</p>
