<p>McElhenney donned a Los Angeles Fire Department t-shirt, having been <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/courage-beyond-comprehension-wrexham-rob-mcelhenney-message-returns-home-wildfires-la-suburbs/blt5ac64da986ee7f6f" target="_blank">caught up in the recent wildfires in California</a>, and told <em>Sky Sports</em> when delivering a post-match review: “I just want to say thank you for an incredible game tonight. 1-1, I’ll take that against Birmingham City, who is probably the best side we’ve played all season. Up the Town forever, hope to see you soon.”</p>

WHAT MCELHENNEY SAID

<p>As they had done in the reverse fixture at St Andrew’s, Wrexham took an early lead against Birmingham – with Ollie Rathbone firing home from distance on this occasion.
