<p>Becoming the latest Englishman to join Real Madrid, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/agent-jude-bellingham-real-madrid-transfer-trent-alexander-arnold-galactico-england-team-mate-spain/blt1b64dcdc94aca318" target="_blank">linking up with close friend Jude Bellingham</a>, Alexander-Arnold has been forced to ditch the No.66 shirt he made famous at Liverpool. First-team players in La Liga are limited to numbers from 1-25, while his name change is for simplicity's sake.</p><p>"I've always found when I travel to Europe, the whole name situation confuses a lot of people, with there being three names double-barrelled and Alexander-Arnold," he explained. "People call me Arnold, people call me Alexander, people call me Alex, people call me Trent, there's a lot that goes on. So I thought let's make it easy. Trent on the back, be known as Trent, that's my name, so that's what people will call me."</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Alexander-Arnold was signed during <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/explained-the-fifa-club-world-cup-transfer-window-how-contracts-will-work-and-more/blt4b93a4338827a877" target="_blank">FIFA's early mini-transfer window for Club World Cup participants</a> earlier this month, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/real-madrid-pay-10m-sign-trent-alexander-arnold-before-club-world-cup-england-star-signing-six-year-contract-leaves-liverpool-ahead-of-free-agency/blt8211adcc9ebeaa71" target="_blank">which meant Real Madrid had to pay a fee to Liverpool, despite impending free agency</a>. But it means he is eligible to play a part in the tournament from the start, and could even make his debut as soon as June 18, when Real Madrid face Al-Hilal in their opening group stage fixture.</p>
