Referee Chris Kavanagh booked the Argentine defender and, incredibly, the VAR did not tell him to upgrade the punishment to red. WHAT HAPPENED?

Romero was playing just his second match since returning to action following a three-match suspension earned for a challenge that saw him sent off during <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/team/tottenham-hotspur/22doj4sgsocqpxw45h607udje" target="_blank">Spurs</a>' 4-1 defeat to Chelsea last month. He is now just one booking away from receiving a one-game suspension for accumulation of yellow cards.

WHAT GARY NEVILLE SAID

After the match, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp added: "I don't think he [Romero] will learn. I think it's in him. He sees red and he goes for it. Some players you can't tame them. He's one of those, he's got that aggression. In a way that's what makes him who he is, but every time I watch him I wonder if he's either going to give away a goal or do something that could cost his team."
