WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The speed at which the deal has been negotiated is thanks in part to a permanent transfer being agreed as part of the initial loan, although <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/mathys-tel-transfer-u-turn-bayern-munich-complete-deadline-day-tottenham-loan-move/blt6091d6bca6882020" target="_self">reports had suggested the fee would be as high as £50m</a>. Plettenberg suggests the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/tottenham-hire-thomas-frank-spurs-confirm-appointment-danish-boss-after-reaching-agreement-brentford-following-sacking-europa-league-winner-ange-postecoglou/bltd778255272ffaee3" target="_blank">newly-appointed Thomas Frank</a> is a fan of the player. It will be the north London club's first signing under his reign.</p>

<p>Tel spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Tottenham, logging 20 games and scoring three goals for the Lillywhites. The Frenchman is expected to sign a long term deal at the club. </p>

<p>The highly-rated Frenchman will enjoy the opportunity of regular first-team football, as it appeared his career was stagnating in Bavaria. He still has work to do, to become first-choice, however. Spurs are <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/tottenham-manchester-united-bryan-mbeumo-spurs-brentford/blta03313415fb9f073" target="_blank">chasing the services of Brian Mbeumo</a> from Frank's former club Brentford, who will provide stiff competition alongside incumbent attacking stars like Dejan Kulusevski, Heung-Min Son and Dominic Solanke. </p>
