'Maybe I'll go as striker!' - Todd Boehly responds to 'increased role' plans at Chelsea following previous talk of boardroom fallout

<p><a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/todd-boehly-completes-takeover-chelsea-abramovich/bltaa21228b2934a376" target="_blank">Boehly and Clearlake Capital arrived at Chelsea in 2022</a> to become the club's new owners, taking over from Roman Abramovich at Stamford Bridge. A rift has since appeared to develop between Boehly's camp and Clearlake Capital, with the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/todd-boehly-another-billion-chelsea-enormous-cost-seizing-control-stamford-bridge-ownership-battle-revealed/bltc266c3b391623d77" target="_blank">American believed to be keen to buy-out co-owner Behdad Eghbali</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Boehly has lost power since the takeover and only has a 12.8% stake of Chelsea, while Clearlake owns a majority 61.5% stake in the club. Tensions between the two parties have been rising but it's believed <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/todd-boehly-another-billion-chelsea-enormous-cost-seizing-control-stamford-bridge-ownership-battle-revealed/bltc266c3b391623d77#csc5f7a784b287f85f" target="_blank">Boehly would have to find another "£2-3 billion" to buy out Eghbali</a>. Boehly has now been asked if would wants an enhanced role at the club and appears happy with his current situation.</p>
