'We're talking' - Paul Pogba update offered by Didier Deschamps after ex-Man Utd star's doping ban ends

<p>Pogba is cleared to return to the field after he saw <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/explained-why-paul-pogba-doping-ban-reduced-cas-confirm-four-year-suspension-juventus-ex-man-utd-midfielder-cut-18-months/bltde5a6a37cc2133af" target="_blank">a four-year doping ban reduced to 18 months</a> on appeal. He was subsequently <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-in/lists/paul-pogba-juventus-over-french-midfielder-free-agent-contract-termination-heads-miami-train-next-move/blt236ed8ce0c70635c" target="_blank">released by Juventus in November</a> to allow him to join another club and plot a way back after a lengthy absence, but he remains a free agent.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The 31-year-old had been linked with a move to Marseille, while <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/take-paul-pogba-back-heartbeat-louis-saha-urges-man-utd-re-sign-highly-motivated-french-midfielder-free-transfer-ruben-amorim/blt30ede6d0c84ce1dc" target="_blank">Manchester United have been encouraged to re-sign</a> him and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-city-want-paul-pogba-pep-guardiola-s-side-contact-ex-man-utd-midfielder-shock-january-transfer/bltceb9223404c95403" target="_blank">Manchester City have also been linked</a>, but no move has materialised. Despite his struggles to find a way back to the game, Deschamps is confident Pogba can return to the highest level of the game.</p>

<p>"He's supposed to be able to play again, but he doesn't have a club," Deschamps told reporters. "We're talking, and I won't tell you the details. Yes, he has the ability and the mentality to return to the highest level. It won't happen overnight, but for the moment, he hasn't made a decision. We'll see."</p>
