Following his display, which saw him breach the double-digit goal barrier in the league, the Italian media did not shy away from lauding the Scottish international, even comparing him to the legendary former German footballer Lothar Matthaus and former Juventus man Arturo Vidal.   </p>

The publication noted Vidal’s transition from the Bundesliga and how Conte adjusted his system to unleash the Chilean’s goal threat, netting 28 league goals over three seasons. It also likened McTominay to Matthaus for his versatility and an eye for goal from midfield.  </p>
