<p>Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney did away with their usual video call with Ker, a star in the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/welcome-to-wrexham-release-date-watch-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-documentary-tv-series/blt588621d689775dae" target="_self">Welcome to Wrexham</a> documentary, and instead told the club's executive director that he's got to run a marathon in order to help raise £250,000 ($326k) for the Wrexham Miners Project. WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The Wrexham Miners Project is Wrexham's official charity partner for 2024-25, and Ker will run in the London Marathon next year as part of the club's efforts to support the local initiative. The project's aim is to "preserve and celebrate the rich mining heritage of the area", and Ker's run will go a long way to helping them reach the £250,000 target. </p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Reynolds and McElhenney will each donate £26,200 ($34,250) to the fund, in reference to the 26.2-mile marathon distance. But they have no desire to join Ker in his slog next April. "We'll be comfortably watching from a distance," Reynolds says in the video.</p>
