'It's rubbish' - Roy Keane slams Andy Robertson's post-match interview after Scotland's heavy defeat to Germany

The Tartan Army arrived in Germany with a huge following ahead of Euro 2024 but they were <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/scotland-player-ratings-germany-ryan-porteous-anthony-ralston-angus-gunn/blt30fc67e853c365db" target="_blank">completely embarrassed by the host nation in Munich.</a> After shipping five goals and having a man sent off, captain Robertson stepped in front of the camera and admitted his side had a plan but it was not enough to beat one of the favourites and that many of his teammates were not aggressive enough in their play.Speaking to ITV Sport, he said: "First half, we just got it all wrong really, didn't show up, weren't aggressive enough, and we let good players get on the ball. Their big players showed up and were excellent all over the park and had an answer for pretty much everything we had. I don't think we’ve played to our maximum. We have to dust ourselves down and go again."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Keane was unsurprisingly fuming at the words from Robertson and argued that they should have known what to expect and played to their strengths against the Germans. Scotland have a big squad full of bullish players but they never looked like they had any belief that they would be able to hurt the host nation. Where they may<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/ian-wright-scotland-ryan-porteous-ilkay-gundogan-red-card/blt52a54f7f7d165d79" target="_blank"> lack in quality</a> compared to other teams, they should make up for with their commitment and work rate on the pitch.

Speaking on ITV after the game, Keane said: "Andy Robertson spoke at the end of the game and said they had a 'game plan'. It's all well and good having a plan, he said then 'We weren't aggressive enough'. The Tartan Army have a few days to recover before they dust themselves off and go again in Group A. They face Switzerland on 19 June before taking on Hungary four days later in what might be a decisive match for Steve Clarke and his players.
