What followed was a fairly awkward exchange, which ended in the ever-critical former Red Devils player sending a warning of sorts to the ex-Ajax boss.

After a disastrous last season, where United secured their lowest-ever Premier League finish of eighth, it was vital Ten Hag's team got off to a positive start in 2024-25. Bigger tests lie ahead but the Red Devils will be delighted to have got the three points to kickstart their campaign.
