<p>The European Union and British Government imposed restrictions on Abramovich following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, leading to him <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/todd-boehly-completes-takeover-chelsea-abramovich/bltaa21228b2934a376" target="_blank">sanctioning the £2.35 billion ($2.87bn) sale of Chelsea to Todd Boehly</a> and Clearlake Capital. Those funds are said to <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/why-billion-roman-abramovich-chelsea-sale-hasnt-been-paid-ukraine-war-victims-explained/bltd65271d22e3218ef" target="_blank">remain untouched in a frozen bank account</a>.</p>

<p>Abramovich is still living a life of luxury, but The Telegraph reports on how his globe-trekking adventures have been seriously reined in. Turkey has become a necessary base for now, with the 58-year-old unable to enjoy the regular Caribbean trips that were once a staple part of his European winter routine.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/01/20/inside-roman-abramovich-gilded-cage-chelsea-russia-putin/ " target="_blank"><em>The Telegraph</em></a> claims that Abramovich’s grandest boat, the £500m Eclipse, is moored in “comparatively modest surroundings” on Turkish water. His other vessels are also sat unused after seeing private and professional lives turned upside down.</p>

<p>Abramovich is said to still be worth £7.96 billion ($9.7bn), but he has been forced to set up camp in Turkey amid reports of initially moving into a waterfront property that came with a $40,000-a-month rental bill before basing himself in a sprawling villa that can be found in the upmarket district of Vanikoy on the banks of the Bosporus.</p>
