<p>McElhenney recently announced that he would instead be known as Rob Mac, after legally applying to change his name. The Wrexham co-owner has explained his reasons, with the alteration coming as a result of business considerations. </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>McElhenney has explained that the change is to make his name more accessible to potential foreign business partners. As he continues to do business in South America, he believes his multi-syllabic name could cause issues. </p><p>He told <a href="https://variety.com/2025/tv/features/rob-mcelhenney-kaitlin-olson-wrexham-sunny-falling-in-love-1236404041/" target="_blank">Variety</a>: “As our business and our storytelling is expanding into other regions of the world and other languages in which my name is even harder to pronounce, I'm just going by Rob Mac.” </p>

THE EXPLANATION

<p>Wrexham have enjoyed a rapid rise up the English Football League and are now preparing for life in the Championship. Mac and Ryan Reynolds set out a dream to reach the Premier League, and are now just one promotion away from reaching the promised land. </p>
