<p><a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/harry-kane-loses-english-mate-eric-dier-set-leave-bayern-munich-another-european-club-end-contract-nears/blt83771fdcdf4b2474" target="_blank">Bayern will wave farewell to Dier at the end of the season</a> when his contract expires as he heads for Monaco after an 18-month stint in Germany. Bayern were willing to keep Dier and offered him a new one-year extension, but the former Tottenham man has opted for a change of scenery instead. According to reporter <a href="https://cfbayerninsider.com/2025/04/eric-dier-bayern-contract-monaco-transfer/" target="_blank">Christian Falk</a>, Dier wanted a longer deal and has been offered a contract until 2027 by the Ligue 1 side. Dier also expected more playing time in France after managing just 13 Bundesliga starts so far in 2024-25 for Bayern.</p><p></p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Dier may not have been guaranteed a regular starting spot at Bayern but he has become something of a fan favourite at the Allianz Arena. Kane will certainly miss his compatriot and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/harry-kane-strong-message-bayern-january-transfer-plans/bltf55320e3d0209d0a#cse852ac11b9354383" target="_blank">admitted back in January he hoped Dier would extend his contract</a>. Bayern will now look for reinforcements, and according to Falk, could join the race to sign Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/barcelona-meet-jonathan-tah-agent-lead-bayern-munich-sign-free-transfer-bayer-leverkusen/blt9e651d19d8837a23" target="_blank">Tah will be a free agent at the end of the season and has been linked with a move to Barcelona</a>.</p>

The Bayern striker was quick to poke fun at <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/harry-kane-jokes-about-eric-dier-assist-english-duo-make-bundesliga-history-bayern-munich-win/bltdee941d91df0d983#csf37e28c2935d11aa" target="_blank">Dier after his assist saying</a>: "I'm not quite sure what he was doing in that position in the first place [laughs]. Me and Eric are really good friends and it's good to see him on the pitch; he's not played a lot this season but whenever he's come in he's done really well. Eric was rock solid again [against Freiburg]. I'm delighted for him that he picked up an assist and it was nice that it fell to me."</p><p><strong></strong></p>
