Revealed: The 11 Spanish stadiums set to be used at 2030 FIFA World Cup

Preparations for the 2030 World Cup are continuing with the RFEF (Spanish Football Federation) confirming which Spanish venues will be used for the tournament. Spain will have 11 venues with Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu, Barcelona's renovated Camp Nou and Atletico Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano the biggest grounds on the list. Basque rivals Real Sociedad (Anoeta) and Athletic Club (San Mames) will also see their stadiums used along with the home of Las Palmas in Gran Canaria, Malaga's La Rosaleda, La Cartuja in Sevilla, Real Zaragoza's Nueva Romareda and Deportivo's famous Riazor Stadium.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The selections means there will be no World Cup action at Valencia's Mestalla or Celta Vigo's Balaidos. The remaining venues will be in Morocco, who are set to take six venues, and Portugal who will have three.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Spain, Portugal and Morocco will host the World Cup but games will also be played in South America as part of a celebration of the first World Cup taking place in Uruguay in 1930. Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay will each stage one game, meaning the tournament will take place across six countries and three different continents.

DID YOU KNOW?

The opening match of World Cup 2030 is set to be held in Montevideo, Uruguay as part of the centenary celebration. It's expected that the final will take place in Spain, with Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu currently expected to host the showpiece event.
