<p>Earlier this month, Alexander-Arnold formally announced that <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/trent-alexander-arnold-confirms-liverpool-exit-breaks-silence-future-emotional-statement/blte356347d3974e5f4" target="_blank">he will leave his boyhood club Liverpool</a> this summer as he is close to completing a move to Real Madrid on a free transfer. The right-back's current deal at Anfield runs until June 30 and it was earlier reported that <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/real-madrid-contact-liverpool-about-signing-trent-alexander-arnold-early-full-back-eyed-club-world-cup-campaign/blt7e9f8c99bd806796" target="_blank">Los Blancos want the player to join them in early June</a> so that he can travel with the squad to the US to participate in the Club World Cup.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p><a href="https://www.espn.in/football/story/_/id/45124383/real-madrid-close-signing-trent-alexander-arnold-cwc-sources" target="_blank"><em>ESPN</em></a> reports that the Spanish giants are now close to completing the right-back's signature in time and the English star is expected to take part in the Club World Cup. The Reds, however, will demand a €1 million (£850,344/$1.1m) compensation fee to let the player leave before the expiration of his deal.</p>

<p>The Merseyside club have already identified Alexander-Arnold's replacement as they are reportedly in <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/liverpool-close-in-on-jeremie-frimpong-advanced-talks-sign-bayern-leverkusen-star-summer-transfer/bltaa40d477a94192f4" target="_blank">advanced talks with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Jeremie Frimpong</a> in the summer. </p>
