The Blues' academy graduate <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/chelsea-reece-james-message-josh-acheampong-senior-debut-premier-league-tottenham/blt0a449b5c3b6fe6ad#cs4a230bd70a455f43" target="_blank">made his senior professional debut last season</a> as he came on as a substitute in their 2-0 win over Tottenham in a Premier League clash in May. The 18-year-old right-back is highly rated at Chelsea and was being considered for a promotion to the first-team ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, but they could now sell him in order to comply with the league's Profit and Sustainability Rules. They are also planning to offload some players from their already bloated 44-member roster.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Per <a href="https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/josh-acheampong-chelsea-transfer-psg-real-madrid-b2593137.html" target="_blank">The Independent</a>, Real Madrid and PSG have reportedly shown interest in the youngster and are willing to offer up to €15 million (£12m/$16m) to secure his services. Acheampong is predominantly a right-back but can also play as a central defender. His versatility in the backline is what has caught the attention of the two European giants.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The London-born teenager joined the Blues' youth system as an eight-year-old. He made his debut for the England Under 16 side in 2022 and later went on to represent the Three Lions at U17 and U18 levels as well.
