<p>The ex-Barcelona manager was on the receiving end of <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/pep-guardiola-subjected-homophobic-chants-during-man-city-champions-league-loss-real-madrid/blt2d872366c09f9512" target="_blank">discriminatory chants</a> at the Santiago Bernabeu when <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/man-city-player-ratings-vs-real-madrid-josko-gvardiol-abdukodir-khusanov/blt533a780512703522" target="_blank">City lost 3-1 to Real Madrid</a> in the Champions League earlier this month. Now, UEFA has confirmed Los Blancos have been fined €30,000 (£24,800) and have also been given a partial stadium closure, which has been suspended for two years.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The <a href="https://www.uefa.com/running-competitions/disciplinary/updates/0296-1d2a82bb7fff-6eeeede96d79-1000/" target="_blank">governing body's statement reads</a>: "The UEFA Appeals Body has decided to fine Real Madrid CF €30,000. To order the partial closure of Real Madrid CF’s stadium (i.e. at least 500 adjacent seats) during the next match Real Madrid will play as host club, for the discriminatory behaviour of its supporters. Said partial stadium closure is suspended for a probationary period of two years, starting from the date of the present decision."</p>

WHAT UEFA SAID

<p>At a time when Madrid are being criticised for their <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/real-madrid-la-liga-president-javier-tebas-blasts-carlo-ancelotti-side-referee-complaint-after-defeat-espanyol/bltbabe85517cbf0d61" target="_blank">vocal complaints about the refereeing in Spain,</a> along with <a href="https://eu-app.contentstack.com/#!/stack/bltcc7a7ffd2fbf71f5/dashboard" target="_blank">boycotting the 2024 Ballon d'Or</a> ceremony, this latest act by some fans is not a good look for the club.</p>
