<p>It had been believed that the Slovenian forward was the Gunners' preferred choice up front and reports suggested the club <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/arsenal-agreement-benjamin-sesko-transfer-rb-leipzig-as-final-fee-for-slovenian-striker-revealed/blt66b5bc4bfd92e0e9" target="_blank">had put in significant work to secure his signing</a>, but <a href="https://sport.sky.de/transfer/news/34132/13393233/viktor-gyoekeres-mit-fc-arsenal-einig-sesko-wechsel-droht-zu-platzen" target="_blank"><em>Sky Germany</em> report </a>that Leipzig are demanding too high a fee to complete the deal. Unable to agree a fee with the German club, Arsenal have turned their attentions to Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres - who <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/arsenal-viktor-gyokeres-breakthrough-advanced-talks-sporting-cp-agreeing-personal-terms-striker/bltb2150e982f78cc52" target="_blank">now looks close to joining the Gunners</a>. With Arsenal, and any other potential suitors, unwilling to match the €100m price tag, Sesko is looking more likely than ever to remain in Germany next season.</p>

<p>With Sesko proving unattainable, Gyokeres is now set to become Arsenal's new striker. The Swedish forward has been <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/viktor-gyokeres-strike-striker-snub-pre-season-force-transfer-arsenal-sporting-cp/blt77b831405c48e914" target="_blank">desperate for a move to the Gunners throughout the summer</a> and is set to complete his dream move to the Premier League. After scoring 68 goals in 66 Liga Portugal games for Sporting, Gyokeres leaves Portugal with a proven goalscoring record and with a desire to show that <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/viktor-gyokeres-worth-100m-arsenal-chelsea-scrambling-sign-ex-coventry-striker-sporting-cp/blt57780abfa9241cc6" target="_blank">he is one of the best strikers in the world and capable of performing in the Premier League</a>.</p>

<p>The Gunners are beginning to ramp up their summer recruitment drive.
