<p>The Sweden international forward is one of the most sought-after players in the world at the moment having displayed spectacular form for Sporting CP in the 2024-25 campaign. Gyokeres has scored 24 goals and recorded four assists in 21 appearances across all competitions and has attracted interest from several top European clubs like <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/viktor-gyokeres-ruben-amorim-man-utd-sporting-cp-man-city-erling-haaland/blt61c92ba124945ac7" target="_blank">Manchester United</a> and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/arsenal-breaking-bank-sign-viktor-gyokeres-sporting-cp-goal-machine-missing-piece-gunners-attack/bltc17c6e8525d67e18" target="_blank">Arsenal</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>It is believed that Ligue 1 champions PSG were at one point keen on signing the striker and their sporting director Luis Campos reportedly contacted the player's representatives to get ahead in the title race. However, <a href="https://www.footmercato.net/a2692393054761778339-psg-luis-enrique-fait-jaser-en-interne" target="_blank"><em>Foot Mercato</em></a> reports that once Campos came back to Paris and got in touch with manager Luis Enrique, the Spanish coach rejected the idea of signing the striker. </p>

<p>Enrique's rejection of the 26-year-old attacker has come as a huge boost for the Gunners and the Red Devils in their transfer pursuit of the player. United have reportedly <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-utd-viktor-gyokeres-sporting-cp-man-city/blt368e418a7658fb74#cs5eba7e4a885133a2" target="_blank">opened talks with Sporting CP</a> and are hopeful of reuniting Gyokeres with Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford. </p>
