'I don't expect anything' - Phil Foden sent brutal warning about England place by Roy Keane after Man City star's minimal impact against Albania

<p>Arsenal sensation <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/video-debut-dreams-arsenal-myles-lewis-skelly-makes-history-scoring-first-goal-thomas-tuchel-era-england/bltedf13cb1b281d552" target="_blank">Myles Lewis-Skelly scored the match's opening goal </a>on his international debut for England. Harry Kane then doubled the lead in the 77th minute as the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/england-player-ratings-albania-thomas-tuchel-myles-lewis-skelly-harry-kane-phil-foden/blt7343d5e3c3d964dc" target="_blank">Thomas Tuchel era kicked off with a comfortable 2-0 win</a> at Wembley on Friday in World Cup qualifying.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>While Tuchel's men dominated proceedings against inferior opposition, Foden and Marcus Rashford had a forgettable outing. Jarrod Bowen replaced the Manchester City star in the 77th minute and three minutes earlier, Anthony Gordon came on in place of the Aston Villa loanee. Former Red Devils star Keane slammed Foden for his ineffective showing as he warned the 24-year-old he could lose his place in the team altogether.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Speaking on <a href="https://x.com/itvfootball/status/1903208142806057401" target="_blank"><em>ITV</em></a>, the Manchester United legend said: "If you’re one of those attacking players and you’ve come off the pitch and dominated a game like that against a poor Albanian team and you’ve not scored a goal, not had a shot on target, you’ve not tested the goalkeeper, you’d be disappointed because you’re there to affect games. You’ve got a new manager and you want to make a good impression. Rashford and Foden certainly didn’t do that tonight.</p><p>"I think he [Foden] might be lacking in confidence and he’s definitely off it, his club form is not great. We know he’s got that quality, usually when Foden is at his best you’re going, ‘something’s going to happen’, even when he cuts in he picks a pass out, gets a shot away. He done none of that tonight, every time he gets the ball now I don’t expect anything from Foden at the moment."</p><p>He added: "You can’t go down that road, wherever he’s playing you affect the game and he didn’t do that tonight. Listen, Foden won’t have that problem coming up about where he wants to play because he won’t be playing, that’s a bigger problem for him."</p>

WHAT ROY KEANE SAID

<p>The Three Lions will be back in action on Monday as they take on Latvia in their second World Cup qualifying match. Foden will be out to prove a point if he keeps his place.</p>
