<p>During a talk at the <em>FT Business of Football Summit,</em> La Liga chief Javier Tebas alleged that Manchester City had used a network of <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-us/lists/man-city-hit-fresh-scandal-la-liga-president-javier-tebas-reports-premier-league-champions-enron-style-financial-scandal/blt66d1edb63a8a5356" target="_blank">"extra companies" to manipulate their financial standing</a>. According to Tebas, this practice allows the club to avoid the negative financial impacts while maintaining their financial standing.</p><p>He said: "City have a lot of companies in their group which lie outside the City Football Group structure, extra companies where they put their expenses. These other companies lose the money but not the club itself. We have reported Manchester City to the EU.</p><p>"We have the facts and figures. We asked for City to be checked. It's very important that all clubs are subject to the same transparency rules and governance on both the sporting and financial side. The City case is one where we believe they have put the losses on the companies that are not officially part of City Football Group."</p>

<p>When asked for his opinion on Tebas' remarks, Pep Guardiola made it clear he wasn’t willing to engage with the media on the issue. Repeatedly responding with "Next," Guardiola refused to elaborate or even acknowledge the question further.</p>

<p>Guardiola then asked if the continuous media attention surrounding City’s financial situation was "tiring," but Guardiola's response remained the same: "Next." When the manager was further asked if City’s sustained success had led to extra attention, he added: "I don’t know. It happened before with UEFA, and in a few weeks, it will happen in the Premier League with the verdict, right? We’ll wait, and then we’ll talk about it.”</p>

WHAT GUARDIOLA SAID

<p>Guardiola’s comments hinted at the ongoing legal battles City faces, including the 115 charges brought against the club by the Premier League over alleged financial violations. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/will-man-city-stripped-titles-115-charge-ffp-case-huge-punishment-sergio-aguero-iconic-goal-2012-didnt-happen/blt7989f1680d63adb6" target="_blank">A verdict on these charges</a> is expected to be handed down soon, adding further pressure to the already embattled club. The reigning Premier League champions are set to face Plymouth Argyle, a Championship side, in a FA Cup fifth-round clash on Saturday.</p>
