<p>Reports emerged on Tuesday evening that the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/sir-jim-ratcliffe-indecisive-man-utd-rivals-thrilled-winners-losers-stick-erik-ten-hag/blt4fed3f3215587513" target="_blank">Red Devils have decided to give the Dutch coach more time in the Old Trafford hot seat</a>, despite months of speculation <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-united-erik-ten-hag-frustrated-question-marks-linger-over-his-future-costing-red-devils-in-transfer-market/blt18bec264969ba654" target="_blank">claiming he would be sacked</a> by the club this summer.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The news that the ex-Ajax boss would not be let go despite their eighth-place Premier League finish has come as a positive for United legend Scholes, but the former midfielder says the pressure is on Ten Hag and his players to deliver better results next season.</p>

<p>United had been linked with the likes of Gareth Southgate, Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Roberto De Zerbi, Thomas Frank and Kieran McKenna <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/why-man-utd-decided-against-sacking-erik-ten-hag-despite-talking-to-half-a-dozen-other-managers/blt368313b19d763f87" target="_blank">as they looked for possible replacements for Ten Hag</a>. The 54-year-old will be determined to prove that they are better off with him instead of the other candidates by making next season a success.</p>
