For me, he’s a better leader right now, but I won’t say the best leader, and he’s been in the team for some time," the 41-year-old told <a href="https://farpost.co.za/2024/10/15/is-yusuf-maart-the-right-man-to-captain-chiefs-ex-defender-weighs-in/" target="_blank">FarPost</a>.</p><p>"I am sure there is something the coach saw; that’s why he’s the captain. Gone are the days when captains were only hard workers and winners of the game. Maybe he’s leading in another way.&nbsp;When it comes to the captaincy, it goes down to three elements. The players, the technical team, and the supporters. </p><p>"Maart is the best when it comes to his work ethic. He pushes, he fights, although sometimes there is a feeling that he’s not the right one," Gould concluded.</p>

WHAT GOULD SAID

<p>Maart should consistently deliver for Amakhosi to help them stand a chance of ending their nine-season trophy drought. </p><p>If Chiefs perform well, Maart, like all the other players, will have better chances to play for Bafana Bafana in competitive assignments. </p>
