<p>The Chicago Sky chose the Brazil native third overall in the WNBA draft Monday evening, with the South Carolina star being named their newest player. After her selection, she was brought over to a screen, where she was shown the message from the Brazil legend.</p>

WATCH THE CLIP:

<p>Cardoso won an NCAA Women's title with the Gamecocks this season, defeating Caitlin Clark's Iowa in the national championship game. The 6-foot-7 center is one of the top prospects in all of women's basketball, but she admitted in the clip that she's been a 'big fan' of Marta her entire life, even being brought to tears by the gesture.</p>

<p>The new WNBA draft pick will begin preseason in the coming months with the Sky before making her professional debut. The Pride, meanwhile, will hope to continue their promising start to the NWSL campaign. They have six points through four matches and are undefeated to begin the season.</p>
