No Wrexham move but MLS maybe: Patrick Bamford transfer admission after seeing Leeds United secure promotion back into the Premier League

<p>The England international is <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/leeds-united-wages-best-paid-player-whites-salary-bill/blta222167e4697315d" target="_blank">under contract at Elland Road through to the summer of 2026</a>. It may be that a sale is sanctioned this summer, rather than allowing the 31-year-old to drift towards free agency.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Wrexham were <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/greatest-respect-wrexham-told-why-ambitious-january-transfer-unlikely-glitz-glamour-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney/blt1fda99b13cd58256" target="_blank">credited with interest at one stage</a>, as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney piece together an ambitious project in North Wales, but <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-price-range-no-patrick-bamford-wrexham-alternative-leeds-raid-january-transfer-window/blt53381141d1e1e1e3" target="_blank">wages are considered to be a major stumbling block</a> there.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Teams in America would be able to fund a more suitable package, and Bamford is ruling nothing out there. He admits to having already discussed a possible switch to the United States with his family.</p>

<p>Bamford told <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSU6BbU5IXc " target="_blank"><em>CBS Sports Golazo</em></a> when asked about a future in MLS: “I think it’s something that, obviously over time I’ve spoken to Michaela [his wife] about it, in terms of playing abroad, and America being one of the options. 
</p><p>“It was something that when I was younger I always wanted to do at some point in my career, to kind of experience it, experience a new country, living the lifestyle there and also trying myself in a new league.
</p><p>“I think once you have a family and a wife it’s got to be run by them and to be fair they gave it the green light, and they said ‘look, we’re going to go with whatever’s for you and whatever challenge you want to want to take’, so it is something that I would be open to yeah, we just don’t know when yet.”</p>

<p>For now, Bamford is planning a return to the Premier League.
