<p>Brazil have been without their talismanic attacker since October 2023, when he <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/neymar-back-for-brazil-santos-international-call-up-antony-misses-cut-real-betis/blt9d87ccae3b2cfe20" target="_blank">suffered anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) </a>and meniscus damage in his left knee. However, the 33-year-old forward had initially been included in Dorival's squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/neymar-santos-wait-next-brazil-appearance-dorival-jr-cuts-him-from-squad/blt263034e55c5bfb4a" target="_blank">but has since been withdrawn</a> due to a thigh injury.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>On Friday, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) officially confirmed that Neymar, Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson and Flamengo’s Danilo had all been ruled out of the upcoming international fixtures. Following the announcement, Neymar took to social media to express his frustration over missing out on the opportunity to wear Brazil’s iconic yellow jersey once again after a hiatus of almost 18 months.</p>

<p>In an emotional post on Instagram, Neymar wrote: "It looked so close around but unfortunately I can't fit into the heaviest shirt in the world right now! Appreciate those who have sent messages of support.
