<p>According to<a href="https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Mercato-neymar-al-hilal-tout-proche-d-un-retour-a-santos/1534803" target="_blank"> <em>L'Equipe</em></a>, negotiations between Santos and Al-Hilal are 'almost complete' over a Neymar transfer. The report adds the 32-year-old and his father, Neymar da Silva Senior, would join an investment fund to acquire a stake in the Brazilian team. That would <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/neymar-edging-closer-santos-homecoming-brazilian-giants-table-official-transfer-offer-al-hilal-star-set-snub-potential-reunion-lionel-messi-inter-miami/blt2b6e2b165ca56103" target="_blank">pave the way for the forward to return to his old club</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Neymar's transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to Al-Hilal <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/neymar-al-hilal-worst-transfer-football-history/bltb5ae92c60547f31d" target="_blank">has not gone according to plan</a>. While the ex-Barcelona star has been <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/doctors-warned-neymar-update-injury-al-hilal-return-acl/blt3c34165406afe597#csab53bd83790470a5" target="_blank">unlucky with injuries</a>, he has not justified the €90 million (£77m/$98m)&nbsp;splashed out on him in the summer of 2023. Now, he is <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/neymar-al-hilal-drops-huge-bombshell-makes-savage-claim-brazilian-superstar/blt0ed420e3821de116" target="_blank">out of favour at Al-Hilal</a>, a return to Santos seems right.</p>

<p>Neymar, who has made just seven appearances for Al-Hilal to date, began his career at Santos before moving to Barcelona in 2013 as a 21-year-old. During his five seasons at the then Serie A team, he scored 136 goals in 225 appearances. </p>
