<p>Per <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6066349/2025/07/24/benjamin-sesko-newcastle-transfer/" target="_blank">The Athletic</a>, Newcastle are interested in signing Sesko in the event that Isak leaves the club. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/alexander-isak-stuns-newcastle-handing-transfer-request-missing-pre-season-liverpool-al-hilal/bltca8ae49abadbd5ff" target="_blank">The Sweden international has asked the Magpies to allow him to explore a move away from St James' Park</a>, but he would cost a huge fee, and any deal for the RB Leipzig striker would be equally challenging financially for any suitor, Newcastle included.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Isak is wanted by Liverpool, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/liverpool-stance-signing-alexander-isak-hugo-ekitike-revealed-newcastle-leave/bltbd72a4d6c9c9cd12" target="_blank">who are said to be considering a huge £150 million ($202.5m) move for the forward</a>, and they are subsequently exploring alternatives. Sesko is understood to have a gentleman's agreement with Leipzig that will see him allowed to leave for the right project, but it is unclear how much he would cost; his deal runs until 2029. </p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Sesko scored 21 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions last season, and had previously been linked with Arsenal, although the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/when-viktor-gyokeres-set-complete-arsenal-deal-sporting-cp-join-pre-season-tour/blt44cc07ba1bcdb8cc" target="_blank">Gunners are instead poised to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP</a>. </p>
