Why Eddie Howe won't make final decision on Alexander Isak's future at Newcastle amid Liverpool interest

<p><a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/alexander-isak-stuns-newcastle-handing-transfer-request-missing-pre-season-liverpool-al-hilal/bltca8ae49abadbd5ff" target="_blank">Isak has left the Magpies stunned by telling the club he wants to leave this summer</a> amid transfer interest from Liverpool and Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. Chairman Al-Rumayyan and PIF are now set to have the final say in an "unusual" move by the Magpies, according to the <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/07/25/alexander-isak-future-pif-newcastle-chairman-control/" target="_blank"><em>Telegraph</em></a>. Al-Rumayyan "usually takes a back seat" when it comes to running the club but PIF want him to take charge, and not manager Howe, due to the significance of the decision.</p>

<p>The Sweden international is a vital player for Newcastle and his departure would be a massive blow. Newcastle continue to insist that he is not for sale but their resolve to keep the striker may well be tested shortly. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/liverpool-stance-signing-alexander-isak-hugo-ekitike-revealed-newcastle-leave/bltbd72a4d6c9c9cd12" target="_blank">Liverpool remain interested in landing the 25-year-old</a> and have already made it known to the Magpies they are willing to spend £120 million (€137m/$161m) on Isak this summer despite having already splashed out on Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong.</p><p></p>
