<p>Everton suffered defeat at the hands of high-flying Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park, ending a good run of form for Sean Dyche's men. There is no shame in losing to Nuno Espirito Santo's men at the moment but former striker Maupay could not help aiming a dig at the Toffees,<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/neal-maupay-posts-shawshank-redemption-hilarious-everton-forward-mason-greenwood-marseille/blt9e66a77abca52d55" target="_blank"> having done so before leaving</a> for Marseille in the summer.</p>

<p>Posting on X, <a href="https://x.com/nealmaupay_/status/1873452430706516044" target="_blank">Maupay said</a>: "Whenever I’m having a bad day I just check the Everton score and smile."</p><p></p>

WHAT MAUPAY SAID

<p>Maupay's post got a lot of attention, unsurprisingly from angry Everton fans, who were quick to point out that Craig Dawson - a defender who has never played for the club - has scored more times for the Toffees than the Frenchman. Everton have actually been on an upward trend in recent weeks, picking up points against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>While Maupay would have had his kick out of trolling Everton fans, his attention will very quickly turn back to his form at Marseille. The 28-year-old has just two goals in 12 appearances this term, with his team 10 points behind Paris Saint-Germain in the Ligue 1 standings. </p>
