<p>The 23-year-old Ecuadorian international was intercepted last Friday while driving near Chelsea's training facilities in Cobham. Officers halted Caicedo as he was<a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/moises-caicedo-chelsea-s-target-for-the-remainder-of-the-season-cling-on-to-top-four-place/blt2417d4ded092c898" target="_blank"> heading home along</a> Fairmile Lane, where he resides with his partner, Paola Salazar.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Authorities are now conducting further investigations to determine whether Caicedo also lacked appropriate insurance coverage at the time of the stop. Should these <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/fans-rage-chelsea-moises-caicedo-escapes-red-card-shocking-challenge-on-pape-sarr/blt8d56623f8d37f069" target="_blank">checks confirm both offences</a>, the Chelsea midfielder could be summoned to court and face multiple penalties, including a possible driving ban.</p>

<p>Surrey Police confirmed the incident in a statement to <a href="https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/34387116/chelsea-moises-caicedo-audi-seized-cops-football/" target="_blank"><em>The Sun,</em></a> saying: “A man in his 20s from Cobham was stopped by officers on Fairmile Lane in Cobham on Friday 4 April and found to be driving without a licence. The vehicle was seized, and our enquiries are ongoing.”</p><p></p>

WHAT THE POLICE SAID

<p>Under UK law, foreign nationals with international driving permits are allowed to drive on British roads for a maximum of 12 months. Once that period expires, they are required to apply for a provisional UK licence and pass the full practical driving test to continue driving legally.</p><p>Law firm JMW said: “If you have been charged with driving without a licence, you could face serious punishment. Potential penalties for this type of offence include a fine, penalty points and a driving ban. Driving without a licence is a serious motoring offence in the eyes of the law. This means it can carry significant penalties that may affect your ability to drive in the future.”</p>
