<p>Antonio is on the mend after being <a href="https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/article/michail-antonio-returns-home-discharged-hospital-horror-car-crash-pbh0wh3xq" target="_blank">discharged from hospita</a>l following a horrific car crash in Essex earlier in December. Pictures emerged of the West Ham striker's Ferrari completely wrecked during Storm Darragh. The Jamaica international suffered a broken leg in the crash but is now recovering at home ahead of the New Year. </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The 34-year-old is not<a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/timeline-michail-antonio-recovery-2025-write-off-west-ham-star-12-months-rehab-horror-car-crash/bltc4ef5f1ce4fa59ec" target="_blank"> expected to play again for the Hammers this season</a>, and his contract is due to expire in the summer. However, according to <a href="https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/article/michail-antonio-returns-home-discharged-hospital-horror-car-crash-pbh0wh3xq" target="_blank"><em>The Times</em></a>, West Ham are preparing to open contract extension talks with Antonio, who has scored 83 goals in 323 appearances for the club since his 2015 move from Nottingham Forest.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>West Ham raised roughly £60,000 ($75,000) through an auction of signed tops and kit worn in the recent win over Wolves, and the money will be split between the NHS and Air Ambulances UK as a show of gratitude for the help they gave Antonio after his harrowing car crash.</p>
