According to <a href="https://www.kicker.de/" target="_blank">Kicker</a>, Leverkusen could turn to Hummels if Bayern Munich are successful in their efforts to sign €40 million (£34m/$43m) rated centre-back Tah. Leadership skills are a particularly attractive quality in the veteran.

Hummels' departure from Borussia Dortmund was announced two weeks after defeat in the Champions League final amid <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/more-turmoil-borussia-dortmund-mats-hummels-departs-after-confrontation-edin-terzic/bltd0d06103db4fe5c2" target="_blank">rumours of a confrontation with coach Edin Terzic</a>, who has also since gone.
